Personality:
Our first impression of Sigma is that of model casino manager: a firm but kind leader to his employees and a benefactor to his customers. He's gone so far as to memorize the names and quirks of nearly 20,000 regulars to ensure they have an enjoyable stay at his establishment, or personally rigging the odd game in a struggling customer's favor. Not even the Japanese government could convince him to shut the place down to smoke out possible terrorists; who would reimburse the loss of profit and reputation? His determination to keep the casino afloat--both literally and figuratively--has earned him the reputation of a man who was born to run it.
It's an easy mindset to understand when you know it's all he had.
The truth of the matter is that Sigma came into existence only three years ago. No name, no memories, no identity, just a blank slate wandering in search of answers he wasn't sure he'd ever find. This wandering led him from criminal to criminal, each jumping at the chance to use this strange undocumented man's ability to exchange information at a touch, and each further ingraining a sense of loneliness deep into his very being. It was that desperate loneliness that landed him with his current set of criminals: The Decay of Angels.
Despite his unique origins, Sigma considers himself an ordinary man who can't hold a candle to the extraordinary people around him. He compensates as best he can by putting on a brave face when need be, but behind closed doors he's an anxious mess prone to self-doubt and catastrophizing. (The anime even makes it clear he almost vomits in fear of the Hunting Dogs coming after him.) On top of this, as both Dazai and Dostoevsky admit, he isn't much of a terrorist. True enough, we see moments of kindness and guilt out of place in an organization like the Decay, such as when he apologizes before detonating a bomb in an enemy agent's face, or insisting that he hadn't meant to wound the man he was sent to extract information from.
This isn't to say he's a pacifist among murderers. While most of what we've seen him do has been in self defense, the acts themselves are, in short, bonkers. The aforementioned face-bombing, inciting his customers to murder with a cash prize, and trying to melt someone's brain inside their skull with weaponized sound waves to name a few. In his short life Sigma has been no stranger to violence, and realizes it has its uses at the right time and place. He just takes little to no joy in it.
Ultimately what drives Sigma forward is the desire to ease that crushing loneliness. The ideas of a home, somewhere safe to call his own, and a family, people who love and care about him, are what he clings to in order to keep going. Previously the casino was his home, staff and customers his family, but since that's been taken from him he's been forced to start the search all over again. He's tired of criminals, done with being used, and just wants to find somewhere he can finally, finally rest.
But he's not going to get that so easily, is he?
Abilities:
Unnamed Ability- Sigma can exchange information through touch. The other party learns what they most want to know from him at the moment, and he learns what he most wants to know from them at the moment. Depending on the amount of information, the recipient may pass out from their brain having too much to process.
Sigma can also extract information from fresh corpses this way, presumably while the brain is still technically "alive."
